Er studierte von 1952 - 1956 an der Staatlichen Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. 1966 - 1971 Dozent an der Werkkunstschule Hannover. 1971 - 1976 Professor für Malerei an der Hochschule für Künste Berlin.
