The five lithographs by Maria Pomiansky show urban landscapes and scenes from the Zurich art milieu: the Hardbrücke with a view of the Prime Tower, a tram stop on Bleicherweg, a view from the window of the Kunsthalle Zurich, a vernissage and an art performance. The carefully selected, detailed excerpts may be reminiscent of snapshots casually taken with a mobile phone. The artist cultivates a playful approach to perspective and angle, which gives these snapshots a spontaneous, subjective character. Maria Pomiansky skilfully breathes atmosphere into her pictures through strong, expressive brushstrokes and a colourful palette. With these stylistic means she makes objects and architectural structures seem alive.

Since her arrival in Zurich in 2003, Maria Pomiansky has established herself as a city chronicler who paints and draws. Born in Moscow, the artist is interested in themes such as uprooting and new beginnings, urban landscapes, interiors and people. Since 2015 she has been painting the Zurich West quarter. The work cycle "100 % Renaissance" emerged from this examination, which reflects a colourful, atmospheric image of this district and, like the works in the current edition, has a documentary and photographic character and at the same time an expressive and subjective one.

Galerie Alex Schlesinger dedicated a solo exhibition to Maria Pomiansky's "Züri-West" series in 2018, and in the same year Pomiansky designed all the covers of the architecture magazine "werk, bauen + wohnen". In 2019 the artist took part in group exhibitions in various institutions, including the Musée jurassien des Arts in Moutier, the Haus zur Glocke in Steckborn and the Raum für Malerei in Zurich.

In his work for Edition VFO, Richarg Long combines three important aspects of his artistic work: the experience of landscape, text and photography. The photograph was taken in 2016 during a journey through the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Poetic and minimalist, the title describes what is depicted. It shows a river landscape with a dugout canoe, which was covered with mud by locals. The use of wet earth as paint corresponds to Richard Long's "mud drawings", in which he makes imprints of his hands and fingers on various surfaces.

During the same journey, Long produced two other works closely related to this edition: The text-only work "Six Days on the Bank of the Parana do Manori", which describes the morning mood and atmosphere around the dugout, and "A Circle in the Amazon", a circular sculpture made of leaves. Richard Long was accompanied on his journey through Amazonia by his colleague Not Vital. The befriended artists resemble each other in their practice, in which they enjoy carrying out projects in different places in different ways.

Richard Long achieved international recognition as a land art artist. His sculptural interventions in nature are particularly famous, such as the drawing of a line through repeated walking back and forth in the grass ("A Line Made by Walking", 1967) or the depiction of circles with what is available on site. His text works, on the other hand, translate Long's walks into words and are reminiscent of Japanese haiku through their concise formulations and their presence. Walking plays an essential role in Long's life and has strongly influenced his work from the beginning.

Richard Long was awarded the Turner Prize in 1989. The Tate Britain dedicated a retrospective to him in 2009. In addition to the MoMA NY, the Centre Pompidou and the Tate Modern, his works are in the collections of the Kunstmuseum Basel, the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur, among others.
