The object works "Trinity" and "Augenblick" created for the Edition VFO originate from Max Grüter's work cycle "Homeless Memories". These are grid-like drawings generated on the computer using a 3D model, which were cut out of aluminium sheet by laser or water jet with the highest precision and then anodized in various colours
The objects can be viewed from all sides and theoretically placed anywhere in the room - whether standing freely in the room, floating, or mounted on the wall. Like a solidified graffiti, the filigree lines immediately enter into an artistic dialogue with the room. Apart from the content, the design shows a playful, experimental link to the original graphics
In a humorous way, "Augenblick" links the unpredictability of nature with contemporary surveillance culture. "Holy Trinity" combines classic art historical subjects with the everyday and pop culture of the advertising world. Drawings in metal first appeared during Tom Wesselmann's Pop Art from the mid-1980s onwards. Similar to Max Grüter's editions, the works were transferred sketches, which were then modeled and transferred to a new medium. Wesselmann drew his studies to be transferred on paper, but Max Grüter (de)constructed the object from computer-generated 3D sketches. Thus Grüter's works are not only thematically but also medially rooted in the context of late Pop Art.

"Like in 1965 during the first EVA (Extra Vehicular Activity) in free space by the Russian cosmonaut Alexei Leonow, I try to document my performance as an art space traveller scientifically and artistically. Connected only by a hopefully blue security tape, like a live transmission, I observe myself through the computer monitor during my first ERA (Extra Realistic Activity) in virtual space. The artifacts generated in this way for the VFO stand as pioneering evidence of my own fantastic exploration. Like Apollo 11 forty years ago, these images may land gently over our fireplaces and flower our dreams, always aware of how all matter burns in the frictional heat of existence".

"By means of drawing and image processing programs for computers I develop my digital image worlds. I also digitally create all the templates for the industrial production of my objects. The mechanized procedure remains consciously visible in the artistic artifacts, if it is not even raised to the subject of my work. It is my great concern to rediscover the human being behind the technological 'sound barrier'. My private Space Program' represents for me my personal departure into the virtual age. I understand this work cycle as a plastic performance on the computer. With the help of a 3D program I have modeled myself in the classical way, without photographic aids, and dressed in a space suit. With the equipment of a contemporary cosmonaut, I thus break away from my computer into virtuality. From the resulting computer installations and situations, I generated the visual material that I used for these line transpositions."
