Keren Cytter's first series of silkscreens, filtered by themes from her surroundings, retains the characteristics of her graphic oeuvre. She shows familiar people and objects - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal hugging each other after a match or burning Nike shoes (Kaepernick debate) - which are slightly deconstructed and distorted, but at the same time sharpen the awareness of situational comedy. The drawings with the long, narrative titles reveal statements that we know from the media. Cytter combines these realities from everyday life with a comic-like commodity aesthetic, making social or political phenomena seem absurd. Everyday life and society, sports and advertising, all with a critical pinch of humor, all this comes together in Keren Cytter's new works, which are printed in gold, among other things.

Keren Cytter is known to create intense video works in which the predominantly artificial nature of the situations depicted is reproduced by the means of their production. She focuses on storytelling and usually gives her actions an unexpected ending. The result of her works is a moving portrayal of emotions in which desire blends with nostalgia, blurring the line between comedy and tragedy.

Keren Cytter received the Absolut Art Award 2009 in Stockholm, the Ars Viva Prize 2008 in Berlin and the Baloise Art Prize of Art Basel in 2006, and has had solo exhibitions in the following institutions, among others Museion Bolzano (2019), Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (2015), Stedejlik Museum Amsterdam (2011), Hammer Museum Los Angeles (2010) and Kunsthalle Zurich (2005). She also has a solo exhibition at HAMLET, Zurich, starting 5 June 2019.
