Three times "untitled" by David Chieppo: a light-skinned woman and a dark-skinned child, a market scene where bananas are sold, a young woman sur l'herbe. The three lithographs are not fixed with a title on a theme, the sheets are so to speak "free". They are rich in narrative elements and their gesture is reminiscent of 1950s graphics. As is often the case in David Chieppo's drawings and paintings, the scenes are subtly infiltrated. The woman and the child do not form a fussy mother-child idyll, the woman has prominently pushed herself into the foreground. The banana buyer, an American GI?, could probably buy the whole crop. The other buyers remain in the background. The hippy woman on the meadow may dream of love, peace and happiness (but what she does and thinks exactly remains cryptic). The pictures are injected with a seemingly harmless substance - the side effects unfold later.
