Daniele Buetti

Daniele Buetti works in the fields of installation, concept art, object art and photography. His work phases usually extend over several years. The new graphics for the VFO are based on the series "Dreams result in more dreams" (2000- 2010) Daniele Buetti manipulated photographs from the world of advertising and fashion. The pictures were perforated and provided with a "speech bubble". The statements undermine the beautiful appearance ("if death smiles at you just smile back") and sometimes the young women are put in the mouth with a vulgar comment ("I'm too old for this shit"). Themes such as projection, transience, aestheticization, deconstruction, consumption and seduction circle around the works: exaggeration and unmasking go hand in hand.

Daniele Buetti works with images from glossy magazines and, in his artistic realisation, directly intervenes in the discourse on beauty, market and lifestyle. "The central question in Buetti's work is always about faith in images. It's delicate, but it might not be wrong to speak of a religious subdiscourse in his art. Not only in that he works around the theme of icons - here in the first meaning of the word as a bearer of the image cult in the Orthodox Church - but also because the question often takes on existentialist traits. This existentialism, which is primarily cultivated in the titles of the works or even directly engraved in the works as slogan-like sayings, however, makes itself ridiculous through its adolescent-like naivety, so that it tips over into cold-blooded irony."
