A waft of mist meets a young woman: upswept hair, freckles, discreet make-up, flower dress. Who is this woman and what is this encounter about? Is this a spiritistic seance as we know it from photographs of the late 19th century? Or a meteorological phenomenon, a dry ice party? The title refers to the staging as a mythological experience. An experience between a young woman and a fog-like structure. Jupiter knew how to transform himself into all sorts of forms of existence in order to get close to the object of his desire, in other words to seduce a woman. With the young and beautiful Jo he tried to bewitch her in the form of fog. Istvan Balogh stages a modern version of the old story of Jupiter and Jo in the studio. The impulse for the present works came from Antonio da Corregio's painting "Jupiter and Jo", 1531/32. In the painting the woman is presented as an act of the back, a fog paw is placed around the woman's hips and she seems to look up in raptures. Jupiter's approach is not presented in 2011 as a clumsy pickup line, but as a tender, almost immaterial seduction. Here he wraps her up, there he whispers something into her ear - which will probably make her blush soon.
